The State Consumer Rights Protection Authority (VVTAT) Temporarily Bans Snortable Energy Powder
The State Consumer Rights Protection Authority (VVTAT) has temporarily banned the supply, the offer to supply or display of energy powders or other powders intended for nasal use that contain caffeine or other central nervous system stimulants, as well as carbohydrates, vitamins, amino acids, or food additives.
This decision is of a general nature and is not linked to any specific manufacturer, importer, or distributor. Furthermore, it does not target any particular model, production date, or country of origin.
The VVTAT made this decision based on a recommendation by the Interinstitutional Commission for Borderline Products, which includes representatives from relevant supervisory authorities, including the National Public Health Centre.
The commission proposed banning the supply of energy powders and other powders intended for nasal use on the Lithuanian market if they contain caffeine and/or other central nervous system stimulants, as well as additional components like carbohydrates, vitamins, amino acids, or food additives. These products, which are not classified as medicinal products or medical measures, may only be supplied if evidence is provided that they meet the safety criteria and requirements outlined in the Law on Product Safety.
🔴 The use of energy powders poses risks to consumer health and contributes to the formation of harmful habits, especially among minors.
