During the Autumn School Holidays, the Number of Infections Decreased

The National Public Health Center under the Ministry of Health (NVSC) informs that the total rates of influenza, acute upper respiratory tract infections (AURI) and COVID-19 (coronavirus infection) in week 44 were lower (500.6 cases per 100,000 population) compared to the week before (722.8 cases per 100,000 population). 

At the end of week 44, 2022 decreasing trends in AURI and COVID-19 case rates and the increasing trend in influenza case rates are observed in comparison to the previous week.

The lowest incidence rates in week 44 were observed in Utena County, whereas the highest in Kaunas County.

3 people were hospitalized due to flu.

Vaccination is the most effective protection
NVSC experts note that vaccination is the most effective measure available to protect people from flu and complications it causes against the flu and its complications (pneumonia, bronchitis, ear inflammation, sinusitis, exacerbation of chronic diseases). Everyone who wants to get vaccinated should contact their family doctor. 
Flu vaccines are preferentially recommended for risk groups: 65 years and older,  people living in social care and nursing facilities, people with chronic diseases, people with weakened immune systems, as well as doctors and pregnant women.
