Risk to the Public from Detected Avian Influenza at a Poultry Farm in Kretinga District Assessed as Low

 

The Kretinga Division of the Klaipėda Department of the National Public Health Centre (NPHC) is going to implement preventive measures following the detection of avian influenza at a turkey farm located in Anužiai and Kalniškiai villages, Kartena eldership, Kretinga district.

Individuals who have had contact with infected birds, their secretions, or contaminated environments will be identified. They will receive information on monitoring their health status, recognizing symptoms, and following recommended precautions.

At present, the risk to the general public is considered low. No cases of human infection with avian influenza have been recorded in Lithuania to date.
