Investigation of Intestinal Infection Outbreak at Kaunas Hospital
Kaunas Department of the National Public Health Centre is actively investigating an outbreak of intestinal infection at Kaunas Hospital of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, which has reported 24 ill persons. The primary objective of the investigation is to determine whether a common source, particularly hospital food, is responsible for these cases. Interviews with patients are ongoing, and laboratory tests—on both the patients and the hospital food—are being conducted to establish the cause of the outbreak. The findings will be used to draw definitive conclusions.
