Information For Residents On Fire In Kaunas

Having evaluated the information received from the Environmental Protection Agency and given the fact that the impact of the fire was local and the fire itself was localised within an hour, the specialists from Kaunas Department at NPHC concluded that it does not pose risk to public health. No investigations will be carried out in residential and public areas.
Information as of 2 January 2024
The fire in the territory of the company "Dirbtinis pluoštas” (Artificial fibre) has been localised. Reinforced firefighting forces are working at the scene.
The National Public Health Centre (NPHC) specialists urge the population to avoid visiting the site of the fire and opening the windows.
Ambient air and waste water samples will be taken shortly for analysis of volatile organic compounds and air pollution modelling will be carried out.
Once the results are available, a decision will be taken on whether it is necessary to carry out tests in public and residential areas. The citizens of Kaunas will be informed.
